The new Board officially launches operation

A new EPSA Board expected to take the reform process forward has started operation on February 24, 2019.
In its maiden meeting, the Board dealt with three agendas. These were: introducing Board members among themselves and with higher officials of the Agency, the revised strategic plan and the six month performance report. The latter two issues were presented by Director General Loko Abraham and were followed by heated discussion.
The Board discussed the major problems in the Agency’s operations at length and determined that strategic questions should be raised to the Board. It was also underscored that a report depicting the decisions of the Board and the performance of each Board member in discharging their duties should be produced.
Accordingly, the Board wrapped up its maiden meeting with a decision to look into agendas prepared by the Agency and pay a working visit to the Adama branch in the coming two weeks.
The Board comprises of seven members including the National Bank Governor (chairman), Deputy Director General of Ethiopian Airlines, State Minister of Health, General Director of Public Procurement and Property Administration Agency, Commissioner of Customs, Director General of Maritime Logistics and Transport and Director General of the Agency.
Considering members of the Board are
highly experienced leaders from different professions that are closely related
with the activities of the Agency, expectations are high that their
coordination would play a key role in advancing the Agency’s goals. The
previous Board is expected to formally hand over its duties to the new one in
the next meeting which would also include a gratification ceremony for the
departing members.
It is to be remembered that EPSA is going
through a reform that is expected to raise its effectiveness and efficiency.
Change in Board membership has been one of the reform activities.
