The Supply of Essential Pharmaceuticals hits 72%
Dr. Mizan Kiros, Director General of the Ethiopian Health Insurance Agency, disclosed that a research conducted by the Agency has shown that the supply of essential pharmaceuticals has reached 72%.
The Director General explained that the Agency has contracts with over one thousand health facilities, of which 30% were covered by the research.
“The result shows that the supply has improved,” remarked the Director General noting that the 28% gap in supply has been clearly identified in the research.
He further pointed out that they have discussed the developments with the Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Agency.
The Director General stressed the need for cooperation and division of labour in addressing the supply gap, which is a common goal for the Agencies.
