A PROCLAMATION TO PROVIDE FOR THE REESTABLISHMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL SUPPLIES AGENCY
WHEREAS, pharmaceuticals play a vital role in health services delivery, and a modern, efficient, and effective administration must support the significant public resources appropriated for the sector;
WHEREAS, to improve the supply chain for medical products and bring Ethiopia into line with those countries having the best experience, it is crucial to have a strong legal foundation including a strengthened financing mechanism, human resource administration, supply chain management, establishment of strategic reserve stock, and related matters;
WHEREAS, it is necessary to reestablish a national self-financing non-profit body that operates under cost-recovery principle and ensures the adequate, sustainable and affordable supply of pharmaceuticals ;
NOW, THEREFORE, per Article 55(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
