Agency announces readiness to distribute RDF pharmaceuticals directly to health stations
Revolving Drug Fund (RDF) pharmaceuticals storage administration expert, Simeret Yemane stated on October 19, 2019 that the Agency has finalized preparations to distribute RDF pharmaceuticals directly to 251 selected health stations under its three branches.
The expert stated that the Agency has discussed the issue with the Ministry of Health and that the branches under which direct distribution is going to take place are Bahir Dar, Dessie and Gondar.
She explained that 374 health stations under Bahir Dar branch, 318 under Dessie branch and 158 under Gondar branch have been selected for direct distribution.
The expert further remarked that direct distribution of pharmaceuticals enables health facilities achieve uninterrupted supply of RDF pharmaceuticals and facilitates the Agency’s monitoring and payment collection activities.
The expert noted that the direct pharmaceuticals distribution is expected to propel the supply rate to at least 80%, indicating that direct distribution in Oromia region led to supply increments to 82% in Negele Borena, 87% in Nekemte and 85% in Adama.
The expert stated that the Agency would sign contracts with stakeholders and distributed pharmaceuticals twice a year.
