The Agency held a consultative meeting with 11 local pharmacists, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Trade, banks and other stakeholders on April 6, 2013 at the Ramada Hotel.
State Minister of Health, Alemtsehai Paulos, called on stakeholders to work together to alleviate the problems faced by local pharmaceutical manufacturers and suppliers.
The combination of foreign exchange, rising commodity prices, raw material taxes, and operational and input problems has prevented us from producing at full capacity, the producers said.
State Minister of Health, His Excellency Alemtsehai Paulos, said stakeholders cannot be effective on their own and that all stakeholders should take responsibility.
In related news, State Minister of Trade, Teka Gebre-Jesus, said the producers need coordinated support to produce medicines.
He said the imported and licensed drugs are completely tax-free, adding that there should be a tax code on raw materials used to make medicines.
