Agency clears more than 550 containers of pharmaceuticals
Agar Tesfaye, contract management expert with the Agency, announced that the Agency cleared more than 550 containers of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies from Mojo dry port in the past two months.
She explained that the pharmaceuticals include HIV, tummy ache, infection, reproductive health and other medicines, medical equipments and reagents.
The expert remarked that over 25 types of pharmaceuticals were cleared out of Mojo dry port and stored in various branches and the pharmaceuticals warehouse at the head office.
She noted that the distribution of the pharmaceuticals and medical supplies from the dry port directly to branches saves time and money besides ensuring their rapid accessibility to the society.
Agar raised delays in receiving original document from bank as a major barrier on the timely clearance of pharmaceuticals from Mojo dry port, underscoring the discussion between the Agency and other stakeholders to solve the problems as the reason behind the timely clearance this time around.
She revealed that a deal is to be signed between the bank, Mojo dry port, Ethiopian Food, Medicine and Health Care Administration and Control Authority (FMHACA) and the Agency to curb clearance problems.
Agar stated that all of the stakeholders have agreed to prioritize the Agency’s mission and speed up their share of the task.
