Agency distributes 1.6 million anti-malaria bed nets

The Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Agency kicked off the distribution of 1.6 million bed nets to two regional states, stated Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies Distribution and Vehicle Dispatch Administration Director, Ahmed Kedir on May 4, 2020.

This batch of bed nets are the remaining 1.6 million out of the total 3.1 million that the Ministry of Health earmarked for Malaria prone regions in Gambella and BenishangulGumuz regions.

This is the second round of bed nets after 1.5 million were distributed under the first round to Segen, Wolaita, West Omo, Sheka and GamoGofa zones of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ regions.

The bed nets under distribution in this second round have been purchased from our partner GHSC-PSM (Chemonics) for 100 million birr.

The Director indicated that the the 3.1 million anti-malaria bed nets distributed in the two rounds are worth a total of 187 million 395 thousand birr.
