Agency said to have contributed a lot to national success in health

General Director of PFSA, Dr. Loko Abraham, stated that the Agency contributed a lot to the success in the health sector over the past ten years at the Agency’s six months evaluation forum held at the Triangle Hotel in Dire Dawa town from February 28 – March 2, 2018,.
He went on to explain that the achievements at the national level could not have been possible without the supply of vaccinations and pharmaceuticals for HIV, TB and Malaria.
Dr. Loko also paid tribute to the Agency’s increased capability by comparing the distribution of five hundred million birr worth of pharmaceuticals during the early days of its establishment with the current distribution of fourteen billion birr worth of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
He underscored the role of the Agency, partners including the Ministry of Health and the support of stakeholders in realizing the achievement.
The General Director, however, noted that the Agency has a lot of work ahead towards fulfilling the pharmaceuticals and medical supplies demand of the society.
He also urged for modernization efforts in supply, finance, expansion of infrastructure and human resource capacity building to go on strong.
In his welcoming speech, Mayor of Dire Dawa City Administration, Ibrahim Usman spoke of the numerous achievements the prevention based health policy brought to the city administration noting that the sustained supply and fair price of pharmaceuticals played a significant role in the success.
He also stated that there are, however, supply interruptions and urged for the problem to be alleviated.
Over 350 participants including high level officials of the Agency and the FDRE Ministry of Health attended the evaluation forum.
