Bahir Dar Branch marching towards improved services
The Bahir Dar branch of PFSA has put in place various work procedures to ensure the fair supply and distribution of pharmaceuticals, branch manager, Abdissa Mengesha stated.
The manager stated that the branch serves 366 health institutions in Amhara, Oromia and Benishangul Gumuz regional states and directly distributes health program pharmaceuticals to 230 health institutions.
He briefed that program pharmaceuticals are distributed based on the pharmaceuticals request and report form health institutions fill out while regular pharmaceuticals are distributed based on the pharmaceuticals consumption data health bureaus send to the branch.
Abdissa Mengesha also noted that the distribution of pharmaceuticals based on the demands of health institutions has improved the effectiveness of their work, despite the persistence of problems associated with the accuracy of demands formulated and their compatibility with the budget of institutions.
Director of the Debremarcos Referral Hospital, Addisu Ababaw, gave his testimony about the will of the Bahir Dar branch to support health institutions by stating that it uses its own vehicles to deliver them the pharmaceuticals they need on credit whenever the need arises.
He raised the hardship to access stoke out pharmaceuticals from the market and the subsequent significant increase in price to underscore the need to strengthen the services of the branch further.
