Branches of the Agency deliver pharmaceuticals to areas hit by Cholera

The Agency has enough stock of pharmaceuticals to combat the Rapid Diarrhoea and Vomiting (Cholera) epidemic
EPSA has enough stock of pharmaceuticals to combat the Rapid Diarrhoea and Vomiting (Cholera) epidemic and it is distributing supplies, announced Senior Supply Chain advisor to the Deputy Director General of outbound logistics, Dufera Nigisa, on June 10, 2019.
As part of the preventive measures, remarked Dufera Nigisa, places expected to be hit by the epidemic have been identified and the Agency’s branches have been alerted to be on standby.
The Senior Advisor noted that the Agency’s branches are delivering pharmaceuticals to places affected by the epidemic.
Dufera also spoke of the Agency’s readiness to provide rapid response to the request by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute to deliver seven health institutions in Addis Ababa with pharmaceuticals.
He also explained that, upon the Institute’s alert, places considered to be along the epidemic’s track would be served by EPSA branches in proximity.
The senior advisor further noted that the Agency’s emergency team is on standby to respond rapidly to any calls it might receive.
He underscored that despite being among the most sought after pharmaceuticals right now, there is no fear of depletion of stock of the pharmaceuticals used to combat the epidemic as they are also produced by local pharmaceutical manufacturers.
He finally pointed out that 14 pharmaceuticals used to fight the epidemic have been identified. These include: Ringer lactate, Normal Saline, Doxycycline and the like.
