Agency distributes trachoma pharmaceuticals that can treat over 14 million people
Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Agency set to distribute 971, 442, 127 birr worth of trachoma pharmaceuticals that can treat over 14 million people in the second round of community based mass drug administration campaign announced EPSA’s Supply Chain Technical Advisor, Daniel Teferi on February 18, 2020.
The pharmaceuticals under distribution are: Azithromycin Suspension, Azithromycin Tablet and Tetracycline 1% eye ointment. These pharmaceuticals are being distributed to 82 woredas in Amhara, Oromia, Tigray and Southern Nations regional administrations with the mass drug administration campaign set to begin in April.
The Agency distributed 1.7 billion birr worth of pharmaceuticals that can treat over 24.6 million people for trachoma in the first round of the campaign conducted in October, 2019. The pharmaceuticals were distributed to woredas in Afar, Benishangul, Gambella and Somali regions, in addition to the regional administrations stated above.
In the two rounds of campaigns, 2.7 billion birr worth of trachoma pharmaceuticals that can treat over 36.3 million people were distributed.
