Agency Distributes Medical Inputs that Help Combat the Coronavirus Pandemic
The Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Agency has been distributing medical inputs that help combat the Coronavirus since the pandemic’s onset in Ethiopia, Storage and Distribution Management Sector Deputy Director General, TesfalemAdraro on April 14, 2020.
Tesfalem stated that the Agency distributed a total of 13 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including 200 thousand N 95 face masks, over 3.2 million surgical face masks, one million facial protective plastic, 21 million gloves, beds, thermometers.
The Deputy Director General further stated that Oxygen Concentrators, Oxygen Cylinders, Mechanical Ventilators and other pharmaceuticals and medical equipment were also distributed.
The pharmaceuticals have been distributed to quarantines, hospitals and health facilities identified for coronavirus treatment by federal and regional states, according to distribution schemes by the Ministry of Health and the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI).
Moreover, the Deputy Director General remarked that the 700 thousand liter sanitizer the Ministry of Health and EPHI requested to be procured urgently is being distributed to all regions, with 200 thousand liter alcohol, 100 thousand N 95 face masks, 14 million surgical face masks and other medical inputs ready for import as their procurement has been completed.
On top of the medical equipment stated above, Tesfalem stated that the Agency has embarked on the procurement process of pharmaceuticals medical Supplies and medical equipment worth 200 million USD from domestic and foreign suppliers.
