Agency Distributes Ultra Sound and Digital X-ray Machines
EPSA has started to distribute 300 ultra sound and 50 digital x-ray machines, disclosed Warehouse and Inventory Management Officer, Endalkachew Mekonnen, in an interview with Fewes internal newsletter held on July 4, 2019.
Endalkachew stated that the ultra sound machines are being distributed to health institutions in regional states, with Addis Ababa allotted 15, Amara 75, Oromia 47, Tigray 49, Southern nations 53, Harari 1, Gambella 5, Benshangul Gumuz 6 and Afar 13.
He noted that the distribution began on June 28,2019, with the machines sent to health stations in Addis Ababa and Tigray in accordance with the distribution program sent from the Ministry of Health.
Similarly, digital x-ray machines are being distributed to the regions with Tigray allotted 4, Afar 2, Amhara 13, Oromia 16, Somali 2, Gambella 1, Benshangul Gumuz 2 and Southern nations 10.
Endalkachew stated that digital x-ray machines have recently been sent to Sendafa and MelkeTurie Primary hospitals.
He further stated that they are assessing institutional readiness to push forth with the distribution program. The availability of proper location, energy and other factors are weighted to determine the readiness of institutions, explained the officer.
The officer revealed that the machines were bought up on the request of the Ministry of Health with an outlay of 208.05 million birr off the sustainable development fund.
Of the total expense, explained the senior officer, 15.6 million birr was used to procure the ultra sound machines while 192.7 million birr was spent on the x-ray machines.
Ultra sound and digital x-ray machines are of vital importance in diagnosing health problems and providing quality health service, remarked the officer.
