The major responsibilities of the directorate include:
- Taking part in formulating agency-wide strategic and annual plan, implementing and evaluating the duties of its office based on the agency’s plan;
- Strengthening and developing the distribution management system;
- Improving and developing the fleet management system.
The main activities of the Directorate are:
- Establishing working system and implementing it for an efficient and effective pharmaceutical distribution throughout the country;
- Preparing latest (up-to-date) transformation tools (quality management system, standards and manuals) and properly implementing them;
- Properly implementing various distribution manuals and policies;
- Effectively and efficiently distributing pharmaceuticals that are procured locally and internationally by the agency;
- Performing various studies for process-improvement and taking corrective measures based on the findings;
- Expanding modern distribution methods and techniques, ensuring their effectiveness and implementing them.
- Establishing and implementing proper systems for adjusting loss and damage that may occur during transportation and delivery;
- Developing and establishing systems for collecting distribution documents;
- Following the distribution of near-expiry pharmaceuticals for effective use by the public in addition to minimizing wastage costs;
- Establishing well-built reverse-logistic system and properly implementing it;
- Devising various tools to make the agency’s fleet management system efficient and effective, monitoring each vehicle of the agency with GPS, preparing reports, and taking the necessary corrective measures based on the report;
- Preparing /formulating/ and implementing performance measures for fleet management;
- Following up the status of all the Agency’s vehicles and ensuring their maintenance;
- Working in collaboration with the other responsible bodies in creating palletized loading system;
- Working in collaboration with the other responsible bodies in automating volumetric measurement practice and implementing it.
In general, the directorate distributes Pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, laboratory reagents and medical equipment; maintains their quality end to end in an efficient, effective and responsive approach according to the needs of various hubs and health facilities by expanding the distribution method and developing a fleet management system to enhance customer satisfaction.
